The Reunion Scripted Content

‘The Reunion- Chal Chalein Apne Ghar’ is a simple story of Leela and Madhav, a middle-aged couple, and their family. Madhav's life is turned upside down when he loses Leela, the most important person in his life, and he feels estranged from his sons— Amol (Veer Rajwant Singh) and Aman (Prabal Panjabi) whom he hasn't seen in a long time. How will they cope with their grief together? Will this unfortunate incident bring them closer together, or will it drive them apart?Amol is a Mumbai-based ad filmmaker who is planning to adopt a child with his photographer wife Tina (Kashmira Irani), while his younger brother, Aman, is a medical student in Delhi. Living in different cities and not communicating for years clearly indicates an emotional distance between the family members, which is mirrored in this drama as well.

Writer-director Danish Aslam has co-written this nine-part series with Shyni Shetty. This family drama depicts various emotions that exist within a dysfunctional family. The concept of 'your parents know you well' no longer exists as people relocate to distant locations for career growth and forget about the folks they have left behind. Although, the screenplay moves at a stagnant pace, the character development and their daily struggles feel organic and easy to resonate with. Every episode is about 20-30 minutes long and is precisely chopped (by Abhishek Seth), with a smooth transition from one sequence to the next. The dialogues (written by Alka Shukla) raise the bar for the show's emotional and humour elements.

As Madhav, the grieving husband, KK Raina delivers an earnest performance. After his beloved wife's death, he is emotionally vulnerable and solely focused on carrying out her last wishes. Veer Rajwant Singh and Prabal Panjabi are both convincing as Amol and Aman, respectively. While Amol has difficulty expressing himself and is more concerned with his office PPT’s (PowerPoint Presentations) than with his family. Aman, on the other hand, is the polar opposite. He is fun-loving and not bothered about returning to Delhi; rather, he relishes every moment of reliving his childhood memories.Kashmira Irani is effective and does justice to her part as Tina. She acts as a good support system to the family, especially her father-in-law Madhav. Devika Vatsa leads the way as Atika. She is a sweet and supportive girl who knows in and out about the Pujari family. Lillete Dubey makes an impression even as a special appearance.

It’s true that when you move to a new city, away from your parents, your coworkers and neighbours become your family and friends. Despite occasional calls, the emotional bond between parents and children remains strong, but children fade apart. This is the clear message conveyed to the viewers through an emotional and relevant family drama. Overall, after 2018’s ‘The Reunion’ based on friendship, this second installment of a family reunion proves to be a decent watch.
