Times of India came up with an innovate venture called “Times SPARK - Read to Lead” Times SPARK (Scholarship Programme for Awareness, Responsibility and Knowledge by school program organizers in India) is Times of India's initiative to inculcate a reading habit in students of Class 9 to 12. It is a scholarship program inspired by the exemplary life of Dr. Abdul Kalam. Up to a maximum of 400 students were to get an educational grant ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2 lakhs.
